Social media megamovie, Horton Hears a Who has some limitations I’m just not happy with. Ironically, it has to do with people finders com — or actually, the non-use of people finders com. My 11-year old niece enjoys receiving text alerts to her mobile whenever someone pokes her, or leaves her a message. But, for some reason, she aptly reminded me this weekend, Horton the elephant may have been checking out what’s going on in Who-ville, but if he’s that curious about finding people, he should have been checking out all the many “free people finders” on the web!
With social media being among the most popular channel of networking, why has my niece’s favorite animated elephant so completely ignored the obvious? She’s got me wondering . . .
Now, the reason I’m being so pickey . . . is because I remember virtually every Dr. Seuss book that’s come out since the mid 60s, and it seemed to me that most of his characters were always up to date with the latest technology, and at the very least, they dressed fashionably. Take the “Cat in the Hat,” for instance. He never wears very much, but it seems his red bow-tie and oversized red/ white striped hat has begun to catch on. Don’t you think?
Anyways, this is what my niece is telling me! So, she knows that I have unlimited messaging with T-Mobile and limited messaging with AT&T. And, of course, Facebook users know that at some point, a lot of messages will pop through, some to which are unimportant. Still, I consider myself an avid Facebook user and I like to stay on top of what’s going on.
Maybe its just a personal gripe on my part, but for someone so avant-guarde as Dr. Seuss, shouldn’t he make sure that (his own character) Horton use the free people finders that are out there?
