Social media megamovie, Horton Hears a Who has some limitations I’m just not happy with. Ironically, it has to do with people finders com — or actually, the non-use of people finders com. My 11-year old niece enjoys receiving text alerts to her mobile whenever someone pokes her, or leaves her a message. But, for some reason, she aptly reminded me this weekend, Horton the elephant may have been checking out what’s going on in Who-ville, but if he’s that curious about finding people, he should have been checking out all the many “free people finders” on the web!

With social media being among the most popular channel of networking, why has my niece’s favorite animated elephant so completely ignored the obvious? She’s got me wondering . . .

Now, the reason I’m being so pickey . . . is because I remember virtually every Dr. Seuss book that’s come out since the mid 60s, and it seemed to me that most of his characters were always up to date with the latest technology, and at the very least, they dressed fashionably. Take the “Cat in the Hat,” for instance. He never wears very much, but it seems his red bow-tie and oversized red/ white striped hat has begun to catch on. Don’t you think?

Anyways, this is what my niece is telling me! So, she knows that I have unlimited messaging with T-Mobile and limited messaging with AT&T. And, of course, Facebook users know that at some point, a lot of messages will pop through, some to which are unimportant. Still, I consider myself an avid Facebook user and I like to stay on top of what’s going on.

Maybe its just a personal gripe on my part, but for someone so avant-guarde as Dr. Seuss, shouldn’t he make sure that (his own character) Horton use the free people finders that are out there?

If, recently, you’ve been getting “crank calls” (not the ones from politicians . . . the other kind . . . you know, the “heavy breathers”!), or let’s say you found a cell phone number on your caller i.d. that you just don’t recognize . . . then you probably want to join one of America’s newest breed of people finders! So, let’s just see if we can just get you in the mood to trace someone’s identity from their cell phone number!

First of all, as long as you have the area code and the 7 digit number, you should be able to locate the owner of any phone . . . if you know where to look. If you don’t have, or don’t know how to get their number in the first place, you might want to watch this related video — it shows you 5 other things you probably never knew you could do with any cell phone! After the video, we’ll pick up where we left off at, with tracing someone’s identity from their cell phone number.

Tracing The Phone Number

Nice video, huh? Anyway, back to us . . . and, we were tracing, tracing, tracing someone’s identity from their cell phone number.

OK, your very first step should be a “reverse lookup phone” service. Plenty of these phone directories are on the world wide web. If you’ll look to the upper right-hand corner of this page, you’ll find one that I prefer, and it works perfectly well for this purpose.

At the site, you’ll enter the entire number, including the area code, and hit “Search.” If the number is a published land line, you might get the data you need, including the legal name of the owner and her/ his current address. Even if the number is unlisted, you can still trace it through Intelius.com.

If you’re lucky enough to get results, your search may stop at that point. You may, however, need to approach this from a slightly different way.

90% of those who use the above services will find who they’re looking for right away, but if, for whatever reason you run into something “unexpected” is that the number returns to a cell phone (could happen).

Because there is no central database of cell phone numbers that’s free of charge, what are (falsely) advertised as absolutely free reverse phone lookup services cannot return information on those numbers. And, if you don’t go to Intelius, you might not be able to get information on landline numbers that are either unlisted or non-published. I mention that only because Intelius has probably the largest database (more than 2 billion entries) and is able to find upwards of 90% of non-listed phone numbers. So, don’t bother trying multiple <a href="http://blogs.icerocket.com/tag/<a+href='http://www.cell-phone-usa.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-affiliate-pro.php?id=8'+target="_blank">reverse+phone+lookup" rel="tag">reverse phone lookup directories in order to find the owner of a phone number, either. Most use the same databases, so if you don’t score results at one then you won’t fare any better at another site.

Finding the Phone’s Owner

Instead, you may have to use a paid site. For a reasonable fee, you can access more cell trace search options to get the information you need to find someone’s number. Some reverse phone databases will provide accurate, up-to-date information using both land line and cell phone searches.

Other exclusive databases include even broader coverage of the entire United States with better results than you might find in most other sites. They also provide free search assistance and access to their expanded people search databases. So, chances are actually very good that, one way or another, you can find the people you’re looking for, using these methods. Happy Hunting!
